It is one of the most robust of the Futaba 2.4 FASST receivers. I have used a large number of them in everything from park flyers to large high dollar gliders. What were the circumstances of your crash What plane, what happened, behavior, failsafe, etc. I too have used the a lot..but is it compatible with the 6ex transmitter. Since the transmitter is a 6 channel will it work ok with a 7 channel receiver. Futaba R606Fs Manual Tells ExactlyMy 14sg manual tells exactly which receivers it will work with. My question is what does the asterisk mean on the 617 on the 6ex line. Crash details: Master tx was my 14sg set to the 7 channel freq mode. Slave tx was the 6ex; it was not bound to the planes receiver; it had its power on while flying; the trainer system in the 14sg would not work with the 6ex off. Futaba R606Fs Trial Trainer SwitchWe tested the 14sg ability to connect and all was ok; with the 14sg switch sh held on we checked the surfaces on the plane and made two reverses on the elevator and ailerons and did several trial trainer switch on and off to get the planes trims to match those of the 14sg. Hard to tell. One thing I always advise people to do is to set up a failsafe, even if it is throttle only. This way you know if you lost radio link, or if something else might be going on. Should the slave tx, 6ex be on or off. Help. if you dont know the answers. The main things are is to select the correct mode, with the 6EX you select 8CH. Then you need to make sure that the student channels are mapped identical to the instructor TX Also make certain that the switch you use to give the student control is set so it turns ONOFF instead of ALT. From your description it sounds like the channels were not mapped correctly andor set up correctly.
